Where do we get this ‘TWRP’ thing?

OK, installed it from the Google Play store. But of course when I run it, it just tells me my phone isn’t rooted.
So I do the 3 button power up from switch off and a green android appears with some text on the left and large Downloading… text.
    No sign of TWRP….

    Now what?
