Please note that the given TWRP recovery 3.2.3-2 image is in its development stage (beta) but it’s stable and you can use it. According to the developer, everything except ADB and MTP support is working. But you can still root Galaxy Tab S4.

You must have an Unlocked Bootloader. Otherwise, you can’t root and install TWRP on your device. - Enable USB Debugging on your phone by navigating to Settings > Developer Options.

Install TWRP Recovery on Galaxy Tab S4
Please note that you’ll need to flash the modified boot with patched DM-verity to prevent the TWRP recovery from being overwritten on first boot.
1: – First, download the TWRP recovery, DM-Verity patched boot, Forced-Encryption disabler, Odin tool (Odin v3.10.7) and Magisk files on the desktop of your PC for Galaxy Tab S4.
2: – Switch off the Galaxy Tab S4 to boot into the Download Mode.
3: – Now press and hold the Volume Down + Power buttons until the tab vibrates. Then quickly release the Volume Down button and hold the Volume Up + Power button. By doing so your tablet will enter into the stock recovery mode. Select ‘Reboot to bootloader’ to boot into Download Mode.
4: – Connect your tablet with the PC using its USB data cable.
5: – Run Odin tool by double-clicking on the ‘Odin3 3.13.1.exe’ file as an Administrator on your PC.
6: – The ID:COM port on the Odin window should light up blue.
7: – Click on the ‘AP‘ button and select the ‘T830XXU1ARH8_dmverity_patched_boot_permissive.tar‘ file.
8: – Then click on the ‘Start’ button to flash the file on your Tab S4.
9: – When the flashing process finishes, the tablet will reboot into the OS.
10: – Now, put the Galaxy Tab S4 into Download Mode again and connect it to the PC.
11: – Run the Odin.exe once again, head over to the Options tab and uncheck Auto Reboot.
12: – Click on the AP button and select the TWRP file ‘twrp_3.2.3-2_sm-t830_26918.tar‘ that you have already downloaded.
13: – After selecting the file, click on Start. This will flash TWRP on your Galaxy Tab S4 2018.
Once the flashing process completes, boot your tablet into TWRP mode directly.
- Hold the Volume Down + Power buttons until the phone powers OFF.
- Hold the Volume Up + Power buttons to boot into TWRP recovery on Galaxy Tab S4.
How to Root Galaxy Tab S4
1: – First of all, move the forced-encryption disabler zip file to your tablet’s storage.
2: – Next, boot your Galaxy Tab S4 into TWRP Recovery mode by holding the Volume Up + Power button at the same time while the tablet is powered OFF.
3: – Swipe the button to allow modifications when the ‘Keep System Read Only’ screen prompted.
4: – Now, tap on the ‘Install’ button and choose the ‘TabS4_oreo_forced_encryption_disabler.zip‘ file. Swipe the button on the screen to the flash the file.
5: – Navigate to ‘Wipe’ -> ‘Format Data’ and enter ‘YES’ in the provided field to wipe the tablet completely, including the internal storage (Important).
6: – After formatting, tap on ‘System’ in‘Reboot’ menu.
7: – Once the tablet boots into the OS, transfer the Magisk 17.2 zip file to the internal storage of Tab S4.
8: – Power off the tablet and boot into TWRP recovery mode.
9: – Tap on the ‘Install’ button and select the ‘Magisk-v17.2.zip‘ file.
10: – Start flashing Magisk by swiping the button on the screen and root Galaxy Tab S4.
