How To Install TWRP Recovery and Root Samsung Galaxy A9

Samsung Galaxy A9 smartphone was announced in December 2015 that comes with Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors, screen has the resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Samsung Galaxy A9 is powered by Qualcomm MSM8976 Snapdragon 652 chipset with 3 Gb RAM and internal storage of 32 GB with support for the microSD, up to 128 GB as external storage which is enough to meet the daily use for any Android users. As, in this guide, we are talking about the custom recovery, through the custom recovery image, you can easily control the internal system of your Android phone. Here is a step-by-step guide that how to install TWRP Recovery on Samsung Galaxy A9 using Odin app.

Actually, Galaxy A9 is running on the stock Android recovery image by default, but this limited access to the core center of Android system only allows you to perform some official operations such as clear app data cache, making a hard reset, managing new OTAs, etc. But if you want to tweak your smartphone without any restrictions then you’ll be required to remove these restrictions to extend your access by replacing the stock recovery with a custom software like TWRP recovery.

First, you need to install TWRP Recovery on Galaxy A9 and then flash SuperSu to Root Galaxy A9. Pre-Requirements:

  • It is highly recommended to make a proper backup of your contacts, messages, photos, videos and other important data on your phone.
  • Make sure that your Galaxy A9 is on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop firmware.
  • The battery level of your phone should be at least up to 70% to avoid unexpected shutdowns while rooting.
  • Enable USB Debugging on your phone by navigating to Settings > Developer Options.
  • Download and install Samsung USB Drivers on your PC.

How to Root Galaxy A9 & Install TWRP:

1: – First, download the TWRP PackageOdin tool (Odin v3.10.7) and SuperSU files on the desktop of your PC for Galaxy A9.

2: – Copy/paste the SuperSU file to the internal storage of your device.

3: – Extract the TWRP file to get the file with .tar extension and Odin flashing tool also to get the Odin3_v3.10.7.exe file.

4: – Switch off the Galaxy A9 to boot into the Download Mode.

5: – Switch on the device while pressing and holding Volume UP + Home + Power buttons at the same time. Once a warning screen with a yellow triangle sign appears, press the Volume Up button to enter into Download Mode.

6: – Run Odin as administrator on the PC.

7: – Connect the phone using its USB data cable with the PC.

8: – Once the Galaxy A9 is connected successfully with the PC, the ID: COM port will turn Blue on Odin, and you’ll see “Added!!” message.

9: – Click on the AP button in Odin and locate the firmware file (TWRP-Galaxy A9.tar) that you have already extracted. Select it.

10: – Ensure that the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options are checked, and the Re-Partition option should be unchecked.

11: – Begin the TWRP installation by clicking on the Start button in Odin. This process may take a few minutes.

12: – A PASS! message will be displayed on Odin after the TWRP installed successfully and the device will restart.

Step No 13: – Disconnect the device and turn it OFF to boot into TWRP recovery mode.

Step No 14: – Turn ON the phone by pressing and holding the Volume Up + Home + Power buttons altogether to boot into the TWRP recovery.

Step No 15: – Tap the Install button in TWRP and select the Galaxy A9-SuperSU-v2.46.zip.

Step No 16: – After the installation is completed, reboot the system.

Done! You have successfully Install TWRP Recovery and Rooted your Galaxy A9 via Odin.
