Install Android 5.0.2 build LRX22G OTA Update on Nexus 7 2013 (Wi-Fi) Manually

Google has released the latest Android 5.0.2 Lollipop (LRX22G) for Nexus 7 2012 (Wi-Fi) via official factory images previously, you can read these instructions to flash a factory image on your device. Here is a good news for the owners of Nexus 7 2013 (Wi-Fi) that the long awaited Android 5.0.2 Lollipop build LRX22G is finally rolled out the OTA update by Google for the Nexus 7 2013.

So if you have Google Nexus 7 then you can update it via OTA but if this update is not currently available in your region and have not yet received the update notification then go ahead and follow the given instructions carefully to flash the latest build of Lollipop update manually on your Nexus 7.

Pre-Requirements:

  • Make a proper backup of all your data and settings such as SMS, MMS, APN Settings, Call Logs, Contacts and media files using a recommended custom recovery (CWM/TWRP).
  • The bootloader of the device should be unlocked.
  • Download and install Nexus 7 2013 USB Drivers on your PC.
  • Enable USB Debugging mode on your Nexus 7 2013 by navigating to Settings > Developer Options.
    • If you can’t see the Developer Options there then go to Settings > About Tablet and scroll down to the Build Number. Tap on build number 7 times till dialogue box appears, saying “You are now a Developer”.
  • Make sure that Enable OEM unlock is checked.
  • The Nexus 7 2013 must be running on stock Android 5.0.1 LRX22C Lollipop firmware.
  • Verify the battery level of your Nexus 7, it should be charged above 70% to prevent unexpected shutdowns.

Steps to Install Android 5.0.2 Build LRX22G OTA Update on Nexus 7 2013 (Wi-Fi) Manually:

1:- First of all, download Android SDK and follow the instructions to install it properly on the PC. You’ll be required the adb and fastboot files located in the Platform-Tools folder.

2:- Copy the OTA file to the Platform-Tools folder.

3:- Make sure that your Nexus tablet is properly connected to the PC showing the device’s serial number. Run the command prompt and type this command:

  • ./adb device

4:- Now boot the Nexus 7 tablet into Recovery Or Bootloader Mode. To do this type and enter the following command or you can also perform it by holding Power + Volume Down buttons at the same time while your Nexus tablet is Powered OFF.

  • ./adb reboot bootloader

Press the Volume Down key twice until you have scrolled to Recovery mode. Select it by pressing the Power button. Now hold the Power button and press the Volume Up button and the Nexus 7 will be entered into Recovery Mode.

5:- Once the tablet is in Recovery Mode, highlight apply update from ADB using the Volume Down button and hit the Power button to select it. Give the following command now:

  • ./adb sideload [OTA File].zip

6:- You’ll see the progress of transferring the update to the Nexus table in the command prompt.

7:- The Nexus 7 2013 tablet will restart automatically and boot to normal mode after the update is completed successfully.

Done! You’ve updated Nexus 7 2013 to the latest Android 5.0.2 LRX22G stock firmware.
