How To Update Moto Z Play To Android 7.1.1 Nougat Official Firmware

We are excited to announce good news for all Moto Z Play users, because the long awaited Android 7.1.1 Nougat for Moto Z Play has been released. Moto Z Play initially came with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and recently the company rolled out the Android 7.0 Nougat OS for it finally the Android 7.1.1 Nougat is now available for your device through which you can get the experience of the latest Android Nougat OS. This latest update comes with build number NPN26.1-22 along with the latest monthly security update from Google. The Android 7.1.1 Nougat official update brings many new features and also comes with bug fixes, stability improvements and improves the handset’s stability. Motorola rolled out the update via OTA (Over-the-Air) in phase wise manner which means that not all users can get the update at the same time. The NPN26.1-22 Android 7.1.1 Nougat official firmware comes with tons of new features like improved Doze mode, quick reply, multi-window functionality, app shortcuts and much more. Before Getting Started:

  • Take a proper backup of all your existing data and settings before proceeding to the ROM installation guide.
  • Download and install the correct USB Drivers
    for the Moto Z Play on the PC.
  • Your device should be unrooted.
  • The Moto Z Play must have a stock recovery installed.
  • Make sure that the battery level of your device should be charged at least about 80%.

Steps to Update Moto Z Play (NPN26.1-22) to Android 7.1.1 Nougat OTA Update:

Step No 1: – First, connect your Moto Z Play to the computer via its USB data cable.

Step No 2: – Next, transfer the firmware file that you have already downloaded from the above link to the root folder of internal storage on the phone.

Step No 3: – After transferring the Android 7.1.1 Nougat OTA file, disconnect the device from the PC and power it OFF in order to boot it into Recovery Mode. Power ON the phone while pressing and holding the Volume and Power keys at the same time until you see something on the screen, this is bootloader mode.

Step No 4: – Using the Volume Down button, scroll down to Recovery and choose it using Volume Up and reboot the Moto Z Play into recovery mode

Step No 5: – In recovery mode, select install update from sd card.

Step No 6: – Navigate to the location where you have placed the OTA firmware file on the SD Card of your phone. Select it using the Power button and confirm installation to proceed.

Step No 7: – Go back to the main recovery menu once the installation is completed and select reboot system now.

Done! You’ve successfully installed the Android 7.1.1 Nougat official OTA build NPN26.1-22 on Moto Z Play.
