Before Getting Started:
- Backup all your important data and settings using a custom recovery like CWM / TWRP before proceeding to the rooting instructions. In case anything goes wrong then you’ll be able to restore your data.
- Enable USB Debugging mode on your Nexus 6.
- Download and install LG Nexus 6 USB Drivers on your PC.
- Download and install Android SDK from the Android Developers website.
- Set up ADB and Fastboot on Windows (Guide).
- Download Fastboot and extract it in android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools directory.
- Check the battery level of your Nexus 6 device, it should be charged at least about 80% to avoid unexpected shutdowns while rooting the phone.
Steps to Root LG Nexus 6 on Android 5.0 LRX21O:
Step No 1:- First of all, download and extract the CF-Auto-Root package (CF-Auto-Root-shamu-shamu-nexus6.zip) on the desktop of your PC for the Nexus 6.
Step No 2:- Now, plug the Nexus 6 with the PC using its USB data cable.
Step 3:- Power OFF the device in order to boot into Fastboot/Bootloader Mode.

Step No 6:- This process may take some time, so wait for the process to be finished successfully.
Step No 7:- The Nexus 6 will reboot now and it may take about 4 to 5 minutes to boot for the first time after rooting.
